Legislative Priorities of the Lake County Republican Party

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - FEBRUARY 28, 2023

As Chairman of the Lake County Republican Party, I'm proud to announce that tonight we passed our 15 Legislative Priorities.  A copy of this Resolution will be sent to all Republican Legislators and Chairman of the RPOF. 

RESOLUTION 23-02:
15 Legislative Priorities of the Lake County Republican Party, sent to the Florida Legislature for the 2023 Legislative Session.

(Passed by Lake County Republican Executive Committee, February 28, 2023)

1. Protect Our Elections:
- BAN the Outsourcing of Voter Roll Maintenance and Management
- Withdraw from the ERIC System
- Mandatory annual audit and elimination of ineligible registrations on all voter rolls
-Restrict the distribution of mail-in ballots to only disabled, military, and citizens that are out of state
-Reduce the time allowed for early voting to 7 days
-Adopt Only Paper Ballots with verifying security features in Elections
-Require Ballots to be Hand Counted Publicly at the Precincts
-Poll Watcher Access to Chain of Custody Throughout the Entire Balloting Process
- Mail in Ballots shall be opened and sorted by eligible electors, not machines
-In every election, choose one entire precinct, randomly selected, to hand recount votes

2. Secure the Border:
-Florida shall immediately deny all taxpayer-funded services and subsidies to illegal aliens
-Pass mandatory E-Verify for all private sector businesses
-The Governor must assert his duty under Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3 of the US Constitution to Declare an Invasion
-The Legislature shall direct the Governor to enter into an Interstate Compact with one or more states to fund and secure the US Border including finishing the US Southern Border Wall
-Adopt an Alien Registration Act providing for mandatory registration of aliens who have illegally entered the United States or, having entered legally, have overstayed their visa or violated the terms of their visa; providing for criminal penalties and incarceration

3. Ban Gender Modification of Children:
-Florida must ban chemical castration, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, genital mutilation, body alteration surgery, psychological/social transitioning, and any other methods applied to or performed on all individuals, regardless of gender, under the age of eighteen years of age.

4. Stop the Sexualization of Florida’s Children:
-Expand the state’s definition of a “sexually oriented business” to include any venue that hosts a “drag performance,” which would prohibit children from attending any such event
-Expand the “Parents’ Rights” Law thru the 12th grade
-Support Risk Avoidance Curriculum that builds student awareness, motivation and skill sets to avoid risky activity by focusing on future goals and dreams by learning the dangers and how to avoid drugs, alcohol, sexual activity, human trafficking, social media manipulation and mental and physical abuse in all Publicly Funded K-12 Florida Schools
-Promulgate Disciplinary Policies Addressing Teachers who break the law by introducing pornographic information and materials to children under eighteen years old

5. Ban China and Agents of the Chinese Communist Party OR any hostile country from buying any and ALL Florida Real Property.

6. Abolish Abortion:
-Abolish abortion by ensuring the right to life and equal protection of the laws to all preborn children from the moment of conception, including adopting tools to ensure the enforcement of our laws to protect life if State Attorneys fail to do so

7. Defend Our Gun Rights:
-Repeal “Red-Flag Laws”
-Prohibit and invalidate all federal laws and regulations that infringe on the Peoples’ right to keep and bear arms and also prohibit under penalty of law, all local and state law enforcement from enforcement of any such law or regulation
-Eliminate Gun-Free zones
-Restore the 2nd Amendment Rights to 18-20 years olds
-Pass full permit-less, Open-Carry (Constitutional Carry)

8. Fully-Funded Universal School Choice (HB 1):
-Pass fully funded legislation to ensure the choice of schooling where the money follows the child
-Enact and enforce both criminal and civil penalty when Parents’ Rights are violated

9. Ban Taxpayer-Funded Lobbying:
-Abolish all forms of taxpayer-funded lobbying

10. Defund Marxism in Florida Education:
-BAN & defund all publicly funded DEI “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion” programs in colleges, universities, and schools statewide.
-Prohibit SEL “Social Emotional Learning” communication to our students including, but not limited to, books, speakers, teachers, etc.

11. End Disney’s Corporate Tax Loophole:
-Pass a “combined reporting” law to end Disney’s corporate tax loophole

12. Protect Citizen’s Medical Freedom:
-Enact Civil Rights Act on vaccine and immunity as a protected class
-Do not allow Employers to discriminate based on vaccine and immunity
-Prohibit vaccine and immunity data from crossing state line or to Federal Government

13. Protect Faith Within Education:
-Allow display of traditional Scriptures in classroom (e.g. Ten Commandments)
-Allow moral teachings from historic texts as literature classes to be added to curriculum

14. Enhance Solar Freedom:
-Allow utility users to remove themselves from power grid without penalty
-Eliminate minimum fee charges on consumers imposed by utility companies

15. Amend the Sunshine Laws to allow members of political subdivisions (county, city, special districts) to communicate freely.
